Shakotan FD3s Savanna RX-73

Ok, Here is the finished machine.

Yokomo Apexi Vertex D1 FD3s with ABC Hobby Works Over Fender Set + Cut vinyl sticker set & livery design by .RSG. + RE-Amemiya and other stickers.

I've added the carbon splitter and photo-realistic coolers. I thought about an external oil-cooler, but that's a bit ridiculous on an FD. Yokomo light buckets. Wheels are HPI Work Miester S1 +9 Offset with +6 TN Rear Axle Spacers.

Main theme features; RE-Xtreme, FET, TRUST, WORK and ADVAN sponsors.

Originally wanting white, the light grey was a second choice but works quite effectively.

Big distractions from the fenders. Triple 3" exhaust tip.

No shakotan machine would be complete without a train handle. つり革 (tsurikawa)

This is the view REAL people will see. Pretty Awesome.

1/10 scale people might see this view.

I'll raise the ride height about 2-3mm for running.

So there you have it, the Shakotan Boso Drift Time Attack JDM with 40 years of differing influence in an FD3s RX-7.

Cool!

7's Day 2011 - RC FD3s Rx-7s

This body shell is quite special. Tamiya ORC RE-Amemiya SGT-300 FD3s made in DRY CARBON!

There are some real enthusiasts among us.

Finished with clear original panels. it would take some big hits to smash this. AWESOME!

Yokomo RE-Amemiya D1-7 and a 2006 Panda Paint D1-7 also playing.

RX-73 RE-Fresh

OK... Here it is... incomplete, but FANTASTIC!

What we have here is a bit of impossibility. The Yokomo FD3s is an incredibly NON-scale 1/10 machine. The wheelbase for the width of the car is crazy long so the designers had to get creative to make it look kind of ok.

The Vertex (Apexi D1) widebody does an ok job of getting the car somewhere near reasonable but it still needs help.

I just helped a little more. Mostly in the rear. You can see the extra length at the back. But in any case, Black helps hide this.

So, the fenders are meant for a 70's Savanna RX-3, I just gave them a new home.

Luckily they came attached to some R-X3 side pannels so I could pump out the rear a lot more. I also trimmed the rear valance from the bumper for diffuser access. (inspired by Cliff's Dori FD)

Colour scheme will include some chrome or old school silver boso influence. Just cut some shapes from vinyl.

RX37 - Fenders

Well, with a bit of colour, this is turning out to be very very cool.

I've attached the fenders so it should be ready for it's new livery in a couple of days. I cant wait to reveal the full impact

I also fixed the front splitter which was falling off from scraping the ground.

I have created a dilemma though... Which RX7 to run.. They all look great now.

FD-73S

Recently, there are a stack of new products on the market. These Active ABC Hobby over Fenders for the RX-3 Savanna somehow have made their way onto my neglected Vertex FD.

I definitely have the wide bug. Red Chrome Apexi Stickers will be replaced with RE-Amemiya D1-7 set.

RWB Body Moulding

As you know, I'm making 2 RWB influenced Porsches at the moment. The Tamiya bodies are being lengthened and widened in the process.

The fenders are giving me a little hassle though.

I wouldn't recommend doing anything too serious when modifying polycarbonate.

The second one is nearing completion also. See above.

There will be some small details like photo realistic lights and engine.

RWP - Paint Prep

I started to fill the body curves, I thought i may be able to build up a paint layer. I'll give it one more try, but some gaps are a bit too big so some putty will be needed.

But getting there. (just undercoat)

RWB RC Drifters

With the 2 new RWB cars coming, there'll be a few of us drifting under a new banner. I decided to make some new stickers for the "RWB RC Drifters". Can't wait for some side by side action.

Rauh Welt 993 - Closer

I decided to cut the front bar and complete the RWB look. It really needed to be done.

Anyway, I'm happy I did, because it looks awesome! I've trimmed the first body #34 and it's awaiting paint and panel.

You can start to see some of the detail in this sucker.

After replicating the front bumper on the second car #9, I also started to glue the body, but not before drilling the body and mounting it in place.

A quick look with the HPI BBS LMR "Shelf Spec"

But these will be drifted. Shelves are for PLA models. Active RC is the way to go.

Start of the week long fender process. first angle is created. then the bend is created after curing.

I also experimented with some putty. this is just playing around. Rear window vent. But I may use it on the light buckets, Bumper Vents, fender lines etc. Just checking the effect on the lexan.
