FCD - Full Counter Drift

I got a new magazine RADI - DRI --- no thats a miss-spelling on the front cover. It's a Japanese magazine. Radi-Dori and explains the new phenomenon of full counter drift leading to the intoduction of the new D-Max drift package.

It seems everyone want's to have full counter steer and less forward pull from the front wheels allowing more authentic drifting. It hasn't really been explained to beginners properly until this book.

Basically... you need a solid axle that makes the rear wheels turn faster than the front. In most cases 1.5~2.0 times faster.

This will stop the power on / off and over/under/neutral/under/over etc rubbish from 4wd drifts. effectively making the drift package more rear wheel drive biased.

Theory says that I should now be able to brake into the corner and then full counter and full accelleration to my desired exit point.

Kazama and others already had replacement parts but they are a bit pricey.
When recently Yokomo released theirs and It has actually started a bit of a rush on parts. Especially for the 1.5 standard version. SOLD OUT!

So rather than buy this... 1.5x Standard Fixed Axel set. I had to build my own from the three separate sections. same price. It's already installed but I'm still to try it out.

Stay tuned for more action next week when i try to get used to the new setup. I'm expecting a big change.

Offset Setting

I needed replacement disks as the last ones were cracked and completely wrecked. These are now on the car for show. I also have many wheels and some are too wide for normal bodies.

I'd been thinking about getting some clamp on drive hubs, but they are way over priced. So I ended up with these. They allow me to lower the offset of normal wheels or fit deeper dished wheels on normal yokomo bodies.

I'll try them on  over the next few days. i especially want to correct my GT-R with +6. I like the dish on the XC8 rims at +6 but They need to  be brought back under the narrow GTR body. The thinnest of these hubs is 4mm should do that wipe 3mm off the width nicely.

ps. can anyone confirm the benefits of these different parts...

Clamp wheel hub (for precision) wobble free??
Clamp Wheel Hub Narrow (for precision) minimal offset adjustment with spacers
Light Weight "RakuRaku" Wheel Hub (Light weight hub) are the o-rings ok?

Diffuser

I picked up a diffuser for the rear of the Drift package. It's actually an F1 targeted design, but should work well anyway.

stay tuned.

Riverside Video

Riverside.

This afternoon was overcast, but I went down to my local spot and grabbed some pics.

The HPI rims are simply awesome! But how do they run?

Not so well actually, they are very very soft, so would be more suited to a super slippery surface wher grip is required. I couldn't really hold a nice change of direction with these.

I threw on the GT-V and had some control back. doesn't look too bad.

I was trying to avoid this puddle all afternoon, then I decided to have some fun with it.

It was a nice spot for reflecting.

It wasn't all successful however. haha.

Stay tuned for a video. I took a lot before the sun went down.

Double Up

2650 yen gets you one of these. Pretty cheap.

I really can't justify the Lipo direction.

The only way I'd upgrade would be to go the whole hog.

Yokomo D-MAX twin lipo packs, new ESC and Brushless engine.

The only thing I am considering at the moment is a new Handle. 2.4Ghz FHSS systems are getting cheap.
Bye bye crystals. Even Yokomo are bringing one out. KOPropo has one that interfaces with MiniZ. cool.

But for now, I'm satisfied with my setup.

HPI RE30 F+3 R+6

I finally got around to getting the new body sorted out.

The old FAT at the back and skinny up front HPI FD3s is 200 at the rear and 19X up front.

So I got some skinny versions for the front. 6mm offset 32mm wide with T-Drift RE-11 and 3mm offset 29mm T-Drift RE-11 up front.

Test time on Sunday.
