Street Jam R3R Kazama GPX-R TailSlider Debut...

With not much experience in the R31 world, I enlisted some mechanics to help me out.

My Tail Slider tuned is tuned a bit differently however getting the basics right required the knowledge you only get from owning a particular brand for a while. 

Knowing that 1mm here and 2mm there makes a huge difference. It's where the 2mm can be used to best effect is most important.

One way direction... check
front CVD length ... check
Knuckle steering speed and position ... check.
CS up... check.

the result is a bit of a monster. the Ninja has it's own style . the biggest dynamic comes from 3 layers of weight on top of the front bumper support.  

But this is a useful technique for obtaining front grip. The Kazama chassis is a derivative of the RC-ART / STREET JAM group with many components shared among White Wolf also. This one wears some weight up front for balance. 

There are more than a few R31 derived chassis running at GCRC so expect a few more Street Jam related posts as I build more knowledge of what upgrades work well.

First impression was excellent in a totally different feel to how my Yokomo chassis are working. More input for the brain. 

Rajicon Crazy - Long Wheelbase

When I first saw this chassis a few weeks ago in Super Rajicon's display case, I thought what chassis is that?

Based on OTA-R31 components. This is an extended wheelbase machine for the 4 door lovers and was a prototype only. When you visit Japanese tracks, a large majority of rc bodies are either Chaser / Mark II / Tourer V or Silvia S13/4/5/180/sil80 or AE86. There is a clear definition. I am definitely in the minority running RX7s

This chassis focusses on the larger 4 door 1/10 drifter. The extra length gives the impression of a truly bigger car. While this may be more realistic. What it does do, it hamper the line that you are going to drift on.

If you run something like this at a small track like Super Rajicon's own tiny track you will probably block the corner and require more space for sure. The body has been spliced for length but street Jam are bringing out a new 4 door lexus and a new "ML" chassis for the Zeon and OTA-R3 style chassis. They will be 275-290mm adjustable. Interesting times ahead.

The focus of drift for many in Japan is not competition. Running one corner in a comp is simply not as satisfying as five hours of tandem or sextuplet drift. The thirst for realism continues as bodies, body-kits, wheels and more components help create these working replicas of reality.

RC Chassis Art

Sometimes in RC there's more to see under the shell than on top. Let's take a look.

On my adventures at D-link I found these two RED beasts. One shaft drive and one belt drive by the same owner.


RE-Xtreme samurai spec machines are similar colors, so it's a good feature for me.

If you want the best at any cost, then you end up with something like this. RC-ART CE-RX White wolf that's no longer white.

Some beautiful Overdose components finishing off  an already good chassis. But look closely, all pulleys have been changed along with many components.

Keyence motor wears the TF jacket and everything including turnbuckles have been done in RED. Lower suspension arms are also alloy and anodised.

I'm only wondering, why no red anodized wheels? Custom Steering angle on this chassis too.

The second chassis is the famous OTA-Zeon shaft drive with similar tuning.

To make two like this you are looking at about $1500 to $1700 EACH with transmitter such as an MT-4 to share with both. You are looking at $4500 in RC goods including twin RED anodized muchmore chargers and carbon covered li-po batteries.

Base chassis $500~$700 depending on model. Extra component installation and complete color matching can be around $200~$500 dollars.

Full custom color change anodizing around $150 depending on number of components.

Keyence Motor packages around $500 with Matching TF Jacket.and closely matched ESC.

If you want the best. Remember those numbers in your mind. RE-Xtreme RC can supply things like this direct from Japan, THE REAL JDM RC. It takes a little time and money, but dreams can come true.
