RE-Xtreme Demi "More" FD

 

Demi Works FD II may as well be Demi More. ;)

The first one I made is awesome so I needed another.  

They always start as a bunch of parts and painting is a pain in the ass. 

Test fit always brings up the smile and motivation.

Then when the shoo goo is setting, I start trying the wheels. 

Some are amazing. but these were a bit chunked from too much contact. 

Sticker time can decide the theme. 

JDM Street Spec is definitely GO. C-West DRFT and Pan Speed are starting points

But there are still some logos to be added.

Both Chassis are very very similar

Components are Yokomo Chassis with Slide rack and SLF Shocks

Motors and ESC are Accuvance (in fact Keyence from 2011) and still going strong.

BROZ Friendly Battles

FD back on the YD2 RX. Wow this feels good with this body. A bit more up front downforce and it turns in pretty nice also. Amazing what true downforce does. 

YD2 SXIII battle partner. So great runs.

Im liking these Raijin S15. 

They are a good Scale body.

Monster A90 solved some inconsistency. I guess letting the front of the body drag on the ground isn't really the best.  Raised it up and feels amazing now.

ZX RX TESTS

 YD2 Test Time but first lets run the RX Red and Black Twins 

These chassis are so fun fun because they are se stable and so equal. really fun tandems. 

The S14s are a bit dark. but when they are together they look great. 

Small details are lost in the colour scheme. 

the other chassis under the Supra is the YD-2 ZX. Im chasing a gyro issue in the ZX that I think is caused by play in the slide rack. but that process of elimination continues.  

Its Still extremely good and once that inconsistency is eliminated. It will be pretty unbeatable.  

Broz RX Twins and ZX Fun

 

FDs are back on track. always a good say when the scene is cool.  

Met some twins. Reve'D RD-Xs are pretty strong

They seem to be a pretty good benchmark and entry point. for a plastic chassis, they run well.

Battled all night with the YD2 twins  RX and ZX debut was pretty awesome. running lap after lap with great dynamics. 

The 86 is actually a pretty small body and the RX really needs a bit more width. Next time a body change. 

RX to ZX

I love the YD2 RX I have. Super Stable and very Fast. But there are times when you need that little more Aggression. I like to think that the RX is perfect Lead Run Competition Car. but in the chase... it's just lacking. 

So I decided to convert my 2nd RX to ZX configuration. 

4 parts. Required

1. Gearbox Case is the necessity $20

2. Motor Mount $35 but could probably run the original in reverse. 

2. Upper Deck is Optional item of course. $25 

4. Upper Deck 2 Gearbox mount. $10

gearbox swaps easy. a couple of extra screws were needed.

The result is almost the same, but just that little different. 

Spur Clearance is close so some modification is required.  Without replacing the RX chassis plate to ZX. The battery remains a few mm back.

I decided to mount the ESC on top of the chassis. using the Fan mount and a custom Carbon piece.

Starting to wire up old electronics.

Matching pair.ZX foreground and RX background. 

The upper deck is a slightly more complex design (left). I really need some new wire but for now its enough.

Back from Japan, I am ignited with something. 

I tried the YD2-REX high battery version (with figures in the S14.) it's a good battle chassis and suits battles with Jay's YD2 SX3. 

Fun times.It now replaced by the RD2 "ZX" which was ready for action..

 The YD2-RX is still solid as every. It's just a cruiser. Was also to see Dave's S13 on track too. I may need to set my gold car up again. 

BROZ Check

This was a chance to test a few things. I was playing with ackerman on the YD2Plus.

 Jay was helping pace the change with the Masao Minowa Chaser.

 

good looking "Masao body". read that as intended.

Time for some fail crew action. Looks good with white wheels. I installed this on the YD2 RX. 

I also adjusted some throttle curve to make the power application a bit less tricky. Results were very stable.  

Jay also gauged this in his YD2 SX3 (basically the same chassis)

I think both have strong points. 

so now it's all preference. 

my YD2 plus still has the dynamics and punch. but the RX is super smooth. 

Body Swaps

The Supra has been sitting on the RX but I wanted to switch to the FD. 

So the long process off taking the supra off the rx and re-offsetting everything for the FD3s be 

The result was good. but the ESC switch gave me trouble.
