.RSG. Designs

3D printed prototypes are something I've been contemplating so it was time to dive in.

I've always been ok with 3d modelling, so a few minutes can crank up a model.

printing takes quite a few minutes, but still getting it right and dealing with materials has been a good learning curve.

Prices are cheap these days so get started

But results can easily be adjusted and tried. These are to fit some MST calipers I have, but the limitation has always been offset and hub depth.

8mm hub for the rear built into the disk, so deep offset no issue.

The other minor part I prototyped so far and printed in a few minutes are these MST caliper mounts for my DP rear.

prototypes require minor adjustments but that's the whole idea.

Modern carbon impregnated materials and even outsourced metal print options from companies like shapeways open up the range of options open to us these days for super low volume or one-off parts.

My target is 1:5 scale, but the 1:10 will not be ignored.

Even if you aren't into the Modelling side.

There's lots of things available online.

Point and shoot.

If anything, completing the FD3s Second Addiction is driving the prototypes at the moment.

Just a few more small items to go.
