Tsunami Power 4200 & 2800 Install

Cool! I've been using the short size Lipo in the TA-06 for a while. However not they look super cool!

As you may have seen from a previous post, these Yokomo batteries have been enhanced.

I've been waiting for the 4200 mAh LiPo for a while so I have this mounting bracket ready to go.

I tried the short 2800 mAh version in the DRB before.  It was pretty light in the rear.  So I wanted a compromise between the 350g 3300 NiMh pack I was using and the 140g 2800LiPo. I liked the way the chassis felt with a 1400mAh Nicad which was around 200g so the 4200 should be a good match.

Here it is installed. Overall chassis weight is now 1.3 instead of 1.5kg. So how does the DRB rate against the TA-06?

Well it runs the lightweight 2800mAh version. It's about 1.2Kg as a result. which is strange but the distribution is a little different. If I remember I'll measure the corners next time.

Very Happy.

Pan Speed FC Update #9 - FMIC

Unhappy with the original Yokomo crap Intercooler sticker. I printed this chrome FMIC and piping for the FC. Yeah Baby!

Tsunami Power 4200 & 2800

Today, the Yokomo Short Size LiPo 4200mAh/7.4V 70c battery I'd been waiting for finally arrived.

That meant, printing up some stickers to cover the disgusting Yokomo stock version.

I also printed the labels for the sides. While you can't really tell from the pictures. these are chrome and they shine like crazy!

Very cool!

The  4200mAh will be installed in the DRB with the 2x 2800mAh already living in the TA-06

Pan Speed "Asamoto FC" @ Max One

INCREDIBLE! The FC came alive at MAX ONE!

Something about this setting makes all the work worth it.

Seeing the car in action makes all those hours fade away. The total effect is amazing!

I took some incredible video, but It will take a while to process, so for now I'll have to make do with these pics.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'm not really happy with the fake FMIC Yokomo supplied. I'll print a new one or cover it in mesh.

It's a poorly finished detail that's not up to the rest of the detail s on the car.

So anyway, I didn't run these wheels. I decreased the track by 2mm with 4mm hubs instead of 5mm ones.

This gave the tyres a little bit more breathing space.

The first few laps were tentative, but My DRB is perfect, so I didn't have any worries. I even did a whole first lonely session without one impact.

I used these Street Jam 17" TE37 with spice tyres for carpet. The result was very good.

Some other guys were out at max one all day too. Thanks for the runs.

But after one session, I switched to the Model N1 in White. Visiblity and confidence was up. The Monster Lives! Asamoto-san... come on!

Pan Speed "Asamoto FC" Shoot Out

Inside and out, here are the pics before the destruction begins.

There are many imperfections, but I'm more than happy with the result.

Go some good angle.

The 17" TE37 suit this body well. I think this could be a current time attack or drift machine. It's bery relevant.

The body color is Yellow with an orange blend so depending how the light hits it. It pops and fades.

Yo can see where I used a bit too much orange when the paint wasn't quite dry.

But the minor imperfections pale against the overall effect of this one. Some have said "Bad Ass"!

The Hyper Bronze TE37 SL are really nice, but the ride height I use for the circuit has the raised lettering on the Kazama tyres, making a bit too much noise.

I coated the exhausts with a titanium blue effect.

But the lights are yet to be seen.

But all will be revealed soon.

Pan Speed FC Build Update #8 - Final Final

OK, Finally final... Almost.

Overall, the body itself is finished. All the paint and stickers are on. Thanks to comments from blog readers, I've added panel lines.

And I printed off the final round of stickers. Pan Speed coloured, Tsunami Waves for the rear and a bunch of things like the rear wing stickers and I added sticker swaps from other guys I've met including some 13bt fans.

I had a bit of space left over on the sheet, so I printed a lot of logos and my RSG design logs for the mirrors. My friends at Speedhunters.com get support on the front window and i printed a lot of small speedhunters stickers also.

When I mounted the body, all i could see inside was a wall of white. The under-body colour was really offensive, you might say I got a bit carried away with photo-realistic door trims with custom logos, I've got another sheet ready for the NFS car too.

I've installed a 6 point "straw" roll-cage and a Tech Racing dash with custom photo-realistic FC gauges and centre console, but the window tint is a bit dark to see those. I may cut the window a bit later... one of the few features remaining is to paint the steering wheel.

I've added quad front and rear lights and this diffuser for now even though I know it will be destroyed. I'm building a prototype splitter than I plan on selling, so stay tuned for that. Secret business. The other detail remaining is to re-enforce the front with FRP tomorrow before I head to max one.

But I have a dilemma. Which wheels do I run? I like these top line N model +9 to drive with. Easy to see.

But I have these TE37 that are totally spot for a time attack / 90's drift feel. The Hyper Bronze Metallic are by Spice and the 17" realistic look are by Street Jam.

I'll probably start with these. the 17" wheels are very realistic even with forged monoblock and all the JWL lettering on the wheels, but the spice ones are Bling Bling! +9 is almost perfect. but I think +8 or a 4mm axle spacer will be used to tuck them just a little.

But I also tried a lot of others. Speed Way Pal Panasport G7 are +10 and the titanium colour is cool

The dish looks good on the rear, butsomehow all the imagery of Pan Speed cars scream CE28N (I have a set of yokomo ones in +3) maybe

I tried Weds, no..

Green N model... no so I will try a few more on the morning with a fresh outlook.

My DRB helmet received a colour matched visor and Tsunami logo. Drive well little head, bring it home in one piece.
