Max Seven

Lights on! with the Shakotan RX-7

I repaired the rear muffler and the destruction continues

Today I ran the seven on the zero six. I started with silver wheels but I ended with gold for a slight accent.

I've managed to get the car dialed in and I had a lot of fun today.

I'll have a video coming in time. Quiet day. Some interesting angles. Dope!

What do you think?

Wider wheel spacers???

Japanese Sticker Trade

Recently I've met a lot of people in the RC drift scene. The language barrier is sometimes hard for me in Japan but I try my best to communicate, but one thing always brings a smile. Sticker swap!

These are my sheets, the large size is usually the size most people swap in Japan. but the small size is probably more realistic for 1/10 scale. A bit hard to read though.

My plotter/cutting machine for vinyl can do a pretty small size but it's painfully tedious at this size.Smaller items are best inkjet printed. But of course we all know white is a problem on transparent media. A combination is best.

If you run with me, you might get one of these.

I'm getting a few from others these days too.

Tsunami Power @ Max One

Today I cleaned up the FD and brought it back to normality.

Sometimes liveries are nice, but sometimes it's the simple style of something that's already cool to hold back.

My Hpi FD3s has a few mods. There's the Yokomo light buckets and Shimizu canards, Kunny's rear wing but apart from that, it's pretty stock.

The N Model white rims really look good in action.

This 200mm body is pretty wide though. With big 9 degrees of camber, the wheels still disappear under the guards. This is mounted on the Tamiya TA-06 Tsunami spec CS 1.8. It's really handling well. But today I ran into a few small niggles with the rear rigid axle. I also tried a few settings on the TAO controller.

It still needs more grunt. I didn't have time to get the gearing sorted.

But... This is the monster! I love the DRB. It's really got a feel to it that the Tamiya doesn't. It's a little bit "wild".

The walls took their toll on my splitter today. A few high speed impacts leaving it a bit worse for wear.

Thanks to the guys out today. Tandem drifting was awesome. Some of those 6 car drift trains were a bit tense though. It's always strange though seeing the AE86 towering over a JZX Chaser. Sometimes scale isn't so.

Headlights in the side window... Driver?

Some of these guys have cool chassis. TRF 417 and Older Drift conversions.

I've been debating this Yokomo BN Sports FC body so it was good to see one in the flesh. I think the Speed Way Pal version is just that little bit cooler. The rear lights in this on were certainly ON!

Thanks to all today.

RE-Amemiya Initial D "Takumi 7" - Part 4

Rough as guts, but tough as nails!! and... it's no where near complete.

I've got a big splitter to go on and I'll be adding these skirts to the side. Sticker courtesy of Dino-chan.

The only thing about this now is, Wheels, basically the white black and silver mean that any wheel looks good. I've tried all my rims and they all look awesome!

Advan RS-D... maybe...

You can see the basic layout for the sleepy eyes, they are just taped in at the moment, I have to paint the light details and set up the LEDs.

Canards I have already and splitter making are next on the agenda.I have a HPI one but I think a custom one is deserved.

Stay tuned.

RE-Amemiya Initial D "Takumi 7" - Part 3

This is ROUGH! Advan RS-D will be good for this. Mounting is LOW!

Black Decals are ready

Yellow has been an adventure. Right at the end I dropped it on the fresh paint. so it's still very ugly! I gave up a long time ago trying to make this one perfect. It will be a maximum impact body from a distance.

Up close it's not pretty but most details will be covered by stickers or carbon.

Shakotan FD3s Savanna RX-73

Ok, Here is the finished machine.

Yokomo Apexi Vertex D1 FD3s with ABC Hobby Works Over Fender Set + Cut vinyl sticker set & livery design by .RSG. + RE-Amemiya and other stickers.

I've added the carbon splitter and photo-realistic coolers. I thought about an external oil-cooler, but that's a bit ridiculous on an FD. Yokomo light buckets. Wheels are HPI Work Miester S1 +9 Offset with +6 TN Rear Axle Spacers.

Main theme features; RE-Xtreme, FET, TRUST, WORK and ADVAN sponsors.

Originally wanting white, the light grey was a second choice but works quite effectively.

Big distractions from the fenders. Triple 3" exhaust tip.

No shakotan machine would be complete without a train handle. つり革 (tsurikawa)

This is the view REAL people will see. Pretty Awesome.

1/10 scale people might see this view.

I'll raise the ride height about 2-3mm for running.

So there you have it, the Shakotan Boso Drift Time Attack JDM with 40 years of differing influence in an FD3s RX-7.

Cool!
