DRB - Overdose

The Yokomo DRB is a machine I know very well. I have a very solid setup that I;ve trialled on a couple of chassis.  But you always need to modify that special piece to get everything right...

Overdose Angle

I decided to upgrade the steering in the top spec DRB. I'm actually contemplating a full OD conversion...

HAHA. NOT

This set comes with everything you need.

But thats irrellevant anyway. Because the Overdose DIB/DRB Ackerman Steering set I upgraded further with sealed bearings and ball joints and nuts as well as titanium screws.

Nuts! is right.

The blue ball joints were Tamiya... wrong size. a bit of binding resulted in unpredictible chassis. I switched back to titanium ones and used a small spacer and all was well.

TA-06 Phase 2.2 Preview

Bling Bling! TA-06 Phase 2.2 shakedown tomorrow.

These shots show the chassis at about 95% complete. I added a couple more details after this including a TRG chrome driver and some finishing touches with the antenna position and lighting connector..

The lipo sits nicely in the centre with small brackets, but I added some velcro to stop it sliding around.

removal is very easy compared to the old hidden compartment Tamiya chassis. I now have leftover Square battery holders.

I spent a little time colour coding the ball ends, plugs and other plastic pieces. I have the Tech Racing shocks to add also which have blue alloy IFS spacers too. I think it looks nice even though the colours are slightly different.

The chassis may get a full green and gold anodizing later, but for now it's blue blue blue.

Carbon graphite suspension arms are visible here.

Wiring is something I hate, but I think I managed to hide most of the wiring successfully. the ESC sits nicely in the forward area underneath the shocks. I'll get it on the scales and check corner weights soon. I think balance should be good, even if overall weight is up a little.

Tamiya TA-06 Phase 2.2

These shots are a build in progress. RE-Xtreme RE-TA-06 CS Phase 2.2.

Phase 2.2 stands for CS 2.2x overdrive

Kazama Auto 41T front pulley relieves the need for the tensioner and brings CS up from 1.8 to 2.2
Tech Racing Front One Way Axle (3 way possible)
This item replaces the Eagle Racing item of poor quality. I've already noticed a vast improvement.

All alloy on the car is now at the desired level. (suspension mounts not pictured)

Main items include

RC Square Lower Bulkhead front
RC Square Lower Bulkhead rear
RC Square Upper Bulkhead front
RC Square Upper Bulkhead rear
RC Square Stiffener rear

Overdose front castor knuckles and steering set has been swapped onto a new chassis along with previous CS gear.

Tech Racing Carbon Drift Spec Conversion

This includes

Tech Racing 2.0mm Dry Carbon Lower Deck
Tech Racing 2.0mm Dry Carbon Upper Deck
Tech Racing 2.0mm Dry Carbon Upper Deck Stiffener
Tech Racing 3.0mm Dry Carbon Front Shock Tower (not fitted)
Tech Racing 3.0mm Dry Carbon Rear Shock Tower (not fitted)
Tech Racing Blue Aluminium Deck Supports
Tech Racing Screws and Battery stays.
Tech Racing Blue Aluminium Dampers Front (Standard) and Rear
Rear rigid drive spool and more.

The design is quite pleasing. It suits my Tsunami Spec design motto. (chassis is a very limited item)

Currently building all standard spec dampers as rear shock sets of differing spec.
Not included in the kit were the Tech Racing Blue Aluminium Shocks Front (IFS versions)

Build was very simple. Everything can be now be tensioned properly. The plastic chassis and bulkheads had some real issues revolving around screw tension.

New Overdose IFS mounts will be added upon release to complete Phase 2.2

I've since replaced the suspension arms with advice from Overdose.

Tamiya Carbon TB-Evo Graphite Long Suspension Arms
Tamiya  Blue Aluminium  Suspension Mount FF 1XC Bar
Tamiya  Blue Aluminium Suspension Mounts FR 1XC Separate
Tamiya  Blue Aluminium  Suspension Mounts RF 1XD Separate
Tamiya  Blue Aluminium  Suspension Mounts RR 1X
RC Square Blue Aluminium Suspension Spacers.

This chassis will now move to a 3/4 size Lipo Battery Power also.
I'll reveal the full spec in a few days with pics and shakedown.
Of course Keyence and Sanwa re-used

Axle Overdose

My Tamiya TA-Zero-Roku had a little issue. So I've upgraded the rear to an Overdose rigid rear axle

The drive cup protectors are cool too!

Although the drive cups are plastic, I think this is a solid solution with the square joint allowing maintenance without removal and eliminates play.

Installed. Pretty. I so much happier now that the Eagle Racing junk is gone.

Overdose spring holders and my custom body mount. I am laying the springs over for a bit less early compression. Upside down for that minute weight advantage

Ps.. TA-06 still for sale.

Eagle replaced junk post is here.
