Second Fortune

Boring white didn't last long

This one decided to take a lot of RC branding.

I have enough street cars, but this one seems a bit less dimensionally challenged now. Hide the lines enough and change is good.

Mounting the Rocket Bunny FD for it's third outing in 6 years.

Fortune in the making

Finally ... I have my hands on an ABC Hobby+Addiction Mazda RX7 Veilside Fortune FD.

When I lived in Japan, I had the experience of working with the Ex-Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift FD and other cars brought back to Japan by Newera imports.

The hero cars from veilside and the stories behind them were part of real life.

So why didn't I buy the real Veilside FD. Well I wanted to build my own RX-7.

And that I did. a couple of times.

and now those days are pretty far behind. the RC build can start.

Can't wait to get this to a point where it can be bolted together.

Champagne Sensations.

It was a nice effect this afternoon, these two champagne colored  machines casting a nice image.

This Skyline Ken&Mary Version has a GT-R Sound card installed. Screaming it up.

The chassis is a CS 2.6x plastic team magic that performs very well. The body is probably worth more than the chassis.

This machine is an R3R with D-Like  FD3s RX7. Here I have some lighting effects on it, but without it's an amazing fade from light to dark.

While the D-Like RX7 Shape is a bit off scale with the short nose, but still cuts a great shape.

There were some solid battles towards the end of the day. Fun for all.

Max One Run.

Stand by for a desktop of this one. I love this photo.!

You've already seen the shoot I did of the 280ZX today. Lucky I took pictures first because I has a few accidents. Anyway...

I recently showed the new N Model Wheels I got, and this is where they now Live. The FD has lost some of it's old-school and gained more of it's drift-ness.

You can stop tilting your head for a while and check it out! the grey is a great match for the stripes on the car.

A great series of pics. I like these a lot.

I also like how the rear lights make the exhaust glow and the train handle it still dragging after a lot of use.

I'm also glad it's back on the DRB test chassis. Although I only used the test chassis once today. It was called on for it's secondary task of parts donor for the main HT chassis.

One damper dropped it's oil cap and hence oil... Funny though, handling wasn't so effected... haha.

I installed a belt stabiliser on the HT chassis after I tested it last week. I'm using a different mount, but it's still much more stable.  I also think I'll go to FCD 1.5 + a bigger front pulley to maintain 1.8 there's more meat on the rear and that's needed. the rear FCD 2.0 and 1.8 pulleys on the rear are too small on the DRb and DIB.

Anyway, as I spend the whole day tandem, triple and sandwiched in however many car drift trains with friends, I swapped bodies and wheels and tried different settings.

FC got some Watanabe action.

How's this for fitment!!!

I also tried the champs on for size too, but ended up with +9 Spice TE37 today.

The driving experience of the S130 is very different. It took a while to adjust.

I also got some help with throttle settings. While I love burning the carpet with my 7.5T Keyence Luxon KG. It's a bit unnecessary. Repositioning the EPA to about 75% is more than enough to have great control.

But I like a little more. I bumped it up to 82% for a little wheelspin when i need to get out of a tricky situation. It also helps me match other drivers.

I drove 2 DIB today. And the verdict is this... very competent chassis. Some people gave them a bad rep but they are very good. Lots of DIB/DRB side by side today.

Thanks to everyone I ran with today. It was awesome fun.

Until next time...

there will be an awesome short video soon!

Unfair Bastard ZX in MAX ONE

You can see why this is an unfair bastard... There is no way I can choose between these.

Just when you think something looks good, something else looks awesome ... and different but still great.

So for this photoshoot, I have both wheel sets installed. I will run this body with two wheel sets ready. In the head on shot you can see the difference between Speed Works +12 (left) and Yokomo +12(right)

This body is looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong. You have to change your driving line and tandem drift spacing.

RE-Xtreme RC features in the Livery. Sanwa, Keyence, Yokomo, Top Line, Spice, Kazama, Overdose, Abc hobby, DRB and few other touches.

I've since spaced these out a little more and it looks that touch better. I've also added some stickers to the wheel dish.

Clearance is perfect. No rubbing on either side.

Of course s130 is the 280zx chassis code and if you want to know the story behind the OK mark... click here.

I chose a Datsun font for the lettering and the Datsun log is prominent. it's a mix of printed stickers on clear and on white sheet.

I've taken raw video and I'll be making a montage soon. It looks sooooooo cool. I cant wait to show you.
