Maximum Insanity - Plus

I just had time to go through my pictures from yesterday... I was totally exhausted.

With the new charger, I managed almost 10 hours of non-stop driving. My body was hurting. But there was craziness.

Enter AE86... I am really enjoying this body... The scars are giving it character also.

I'm enjoying the driver also, but I haven't found time to paint the face properly.

I like both wheels, the XSA and FXR as well as some black watanabe looked good. This weekend I'll be using some Asphalt Tyres on Prodrives. see how it goes.

This month has been a sea of red at Max One.

Team Red is made up of callsigns... RE-Xtreme, Hidari-Maru and Taku-13Bt (driving the 86/DRB here.)

While I can't take images of the three of us together. I can get a couple at a time.

 I forgot the "RAW" camera too.you can just see the empty camera holder through the 86's window.

Crazy Man No.1 OTA-R conversion

Crazy Man No.2 (this is a TA-06) and I am Crazy Man No3 with DRB.

Today seemed to be a Red vs White day.

 
Team red has a slower more compact flow.

Team white today was running Takeuchi-san in the lead. These guys run a slightly faster line with a slight spread between cars.

Under constant attack.

The Turbo'd Zeon was doing well.

But if you let some one this far along side...

You'll be taking the expressway exit involuntary.

I spent a bit of time finding a line on the reverse direction highway at Max One. It's freaking difficult with a low percentage of success but if you can link it all it's very rewarding.

Anyway... The S15 lives on.

VDS Porsche or VDFII S15 during the day as well as the AE86 seen here.

Everyone has really upped their game. and makes for constant battles.

Marine-san's new ER34 is a beast. 

The bullet holes around the car cap off the military fighter warthog theme. Flat paint on the outside is a good effect.

A Visit to the Circuit Doctor

Circuit Dr. Evil! haha. No that couldn't be further from the truth. This place is Dr. Fun!

I spent a few hours here today, the main reason was to setup another chassis, but I still wanted to try this track. The size is pretty much perfect. Theme is Hawaii fun. Hawaiian shirts and Hawaiian music. Concentration usually eliminates that from your mind.

 My main battle partners today were running these huge ER34 Skylines. somehow the 86 looked very scale against them. Very realistic.

 The Full Uras kits look awesome. This machine is a OTA-R Wheels are top line DRS-10 in gold. The HKS livery looks pretty cool too.

 Active LED and some custom cylon style making this pretty cool! in the background you can see how busy it was. Almost all the pit tables were in use on this national holiday season

 I apologize for the pics. But more to come later.

 My camera was playing up, so I resorted to P mode. but that just doesn't have any feeling..

Anyway, the driver of this Zeon was awesome and he allowed me to follow very closely without error. His technique was different to many, but very effective. Presentation was excellent. I enjoyed this a lot.

Here is my favorite shot from today. I have some rough DV, from onboard, but it's terribly bumpy and you can only see the skyline flash by as the camera was pointing mostly at a 45 degree angle. haha.

 This section of the track was awesome. Mostly today, I was in tandem mode, but full attack down the Skull corner is awesome.

Trying to sort out the drift package today. It's a work in progress.

Needs a front one way, but we are making do with old tech. Would you believe the Yokomo running set in "AM"  is better than the 2.4Ghz version.

Today I tried to toughen up the AE86. The Deep Work XSA from Street Jam have turned it from a Race style machine to a street thumper! the 17"look on the XSA is pretty cool.

The matt bronze and red really matches the body and deeeeeeeeeep dish is cool!.

I like using his car as a backdrop. He is always kind enough to oblige.

The movement in the background adds to the effect.

I thy to get light and reflection. This shot is dark and light, shiny and blurred. one of those you can look at for a long time. There's even a reflection of a person in the door.

This one doesn't quite give the same effect, but that wheel dish is insane. I luv these wheels.

While I was laying on the track breaking parts of the diorama. I was getting "buzzed" quite closely. I have trust in ability.

A while ago I made some targets for Max One. Sometimes I like to put them up for practice. Usually in difficult spots recently.

This is not the usual line for this corner. It is usually an "in" clip rather than an out clip. I am enjoying trying different layouts recently.

I also tried to master the reverse anti-clockwise highway line today. I think I'm 90% there.

After practicing for a while we moved on to tandem runs with this line and a different course with a tight hairpin. We also tried some opposite direction drifting like a "show demo" with a gallery watching it was fun. We also tried "sekai ni ichiban osoi dorifuto" / "World's Slowest Drift". Drifting at 5-10% throttle is very freaking difficult and sends the gallery to sleep... hahaha!  But we were extremely close and it was very good practice. Our cars are set up very similarly and we can get almost the same angle at 10% throttle as we can at 100%. it's just much much slower.

After we came back up to full speed, I think we were both "on it" within mm of each other.

I will definitely try this again.  

These have become THE MOST POPULAR WHEEL IN JAPAN right now. Mikuni Work Genosis. It's easy to see why. They should be called "gorgeous" instead. I'm waiting to see the work ones before I part with cash, but these a +9 offset.

Takeuchi-san's Overdose DRB was wearing one set.

And his Zeon was also wearing another set.

His chassis both run Keyence Airia with boost function. They sound insane.

This is the other Overdose chassis of our Wednesday group. DRB style is varied. I definitely dont need to run extra weights or the alloy bumper weight or a bumper even up front on my chassis. but other guys run these with 3.5 rear toe while I run 0.5. Setting is all about preference.

So here is a mini feature. S15 G-Master body with Mikuni wheel.

Simple is sometimes very very cool.

The signal stripe is a nice touch to break up the expanse of white.

 Some low wing mounts are a nice touch.

High wing mounts at MAX ONE are a bit of a 50:50 gable. If you push the wide line under the expressway you will hit something.

The wing is probably one of yokomo's stronger items. The stays are also pretty strong and mounted securely.
I'm suprised. Normal Yokomo Stays I have broken many.

I'm also liking the door scars on the 86 too. It's a sign of close driving. Mainly Ishida-san is to blame/thank.

The RC926 tyres were quite slippery and the profile was low so I didn't like the lowered ride height. I still thoroughly  recommend Kazama Premium carpet tyres.
The raised lettering on my Kazama Premium is all but gone. too much rubbing. but it's quiet now.
