BROZ Comp

Broz Comp is a precursor to an Easter adventure

Many entries trying out the Broz event.

I had the guys line up in the down time for some photos.

I tried both my Yd2 RX and Yd2 REX Plus chassis with the latter getting chosen.

the RX just was a bit more challenging to drive and with the 86 having the shorter overhangs, it was the silver 86 on track.

Getting the feel for the surface. I don't drift that often anymore, so it takes time to get back to speed.

Jay also going the YD2 with SXII on track

Practice.

Local and interstate drivers.

old guns.

setting a line

After 2 mistakes killing my qualifying runs. I started at the bottom. While there was no chance of getting to the top with the comp split into 2 immediately.

I was able to have very tight and enjoyable battles taking 2nd in the lower group.

There was just one thing that made the day less enjoyable with the schedule for the comp spread over 8 hours meaning I couldn't stay until the end.

GCRCD 17 03 Comp - Qualify

Qualifying is a different skill. Style is just as important as accuracy. Takes guts to go first.

Going for the 110% will grab the extra 3 points.

GCRCD 17 03 Comp - Setup and Practice

With all cars arrived, some setup shots ....

And some hard practice. This is Tsuiso / Tandem / Battle Mode.

The Driver you practice with should have a similar setup and similar style, That's the key to twin drift success.

GCRC Drift Boss Part#3 - Battle!

Rev it up... Dump the clutch, Let's go!

Maximum attack!

There is no second chance.

Battles were too many to remember really.

A few hours of door to door.

Follow as close as you can.

Thats the way it's done.

Line emulation is what the man wants to see.

Slide in deep.

 Slide in deep.

Change direction,

Flick and hold.

While all these shots were in battles, for the camera at this focal length, proximity must be close... Very close.

Old vs New. 86 Battle Zone.

Damn this R31 looks good on camera. Even if it is blurry.

Hopefully some edits will be coming our way.

Because there was some amazing action.

Perhaps the battle of the day was decided by the tiniest things. When battles are this close. Emulating Line is guaranteed.

Warm up runs... I think we need ten!

My 180-sx looking the business... disco distraction lights ablaze!

S-Chassis Battles are indeed special.

I don't remember the battles today. I just remember being very very close.

Diving into the first corner... you have to commit.

Lights ablaze, Adapting to the battle partners speed and line is a little different. setups can vary greatly.

Here's that Sexy R31 again...

Another very very close battle. Through my lens, this one went the other way... But hey. I'm glad I don't make the decisions.

Either way... tight!

You can see the progressions here.

As the cars have more battles to the top.

The purple machine out of sight.

3rd match went to the orange.

So... we somehow ended up with a father / son final. Starting at opposite sides of the draw. It was always a possibility.

Again it was tight. Showing off the rewards of countless hours circulating at GCRC.

It wasn't tiny mistakes that determined the win today... it was consistency.

You have to approach each battle with a fresh mind and I think most importantly enjoyment.

Enjoying the rewards!

Sir Charles. The GCRC Drift Boss!
