RE-Xtreme Tsunami @ Max One

I also took the Tsunami Spec cars to Max One tonight.

I tried out the new livery in concept form, which looks very nice, but the sticker method I chose was experimental and didn't allow for a quality end result.

As you can see the body is only half applied however it still has me excited about a real application.

I also installed a static 8 LED set from Hobby Pro which does the job at Max One. You need Lights.

I left one side of the original livery. Expect to see this in the UK on an FD in the near future.

The slashes kind of complement each other, but this shell will return to it's plain white base very soon.

The main reason for using this machine (TA-06) was testing a new belt tensioner of my design for the 1.8 CS setup. It's basically a RC Square alloy servo mount used to hold a bearing set. Works very effectively. No slip what so ever.

I struggled with suspension setting all night, but then I remembered I had adjusted the drive rate lower. Once I increased the steering rate it was fantastic. Now I only need a bigger spur and smaller pinion for more punch. The new battery compartment clips are also fantastic!

I'm not a fan of the new anti-clockwise direction at Max-One though. you see the rear of the cars a lot.
I like the clock wise direction where the front of the car is visible more often. It makes visibility of steering very difficult.

My friend Allen, took some pics for me. First time with my camera just playing around.

Tsunami-Spec DRB in action with the RE-Xtreme Yokomo RE-Amemiya FD3s "Takumi" Rx7 . I've added the rear diffuser since last time and it looks more complete.

I only took one lens with a very narrow focal length in this light, so it's a bit tricky to get that single shot.

Especially when they are coming straight towards the camera.

I like these blurred motion shots though. All about colour!

And basic shapes.

It's all good. I really am enjoying this body. I like the design I did for it.

This final shot is Awesome! I love that only the front tyre is within focal length. Impressionistic Art. The full size image is awesome.

RWB G-Force in Max One

RWB G-force #9 in Max One.

This area is a great place for imagery. Night time attack at Max One suits the RWB perfectly.

The chassis is a Drift Package CS 1.5 that is still being fine tuned with an old school 19T brushed motor for power.

Finally able to handover the shell to it's owner.

There's a bit of detail in here. I opted not to try to highlight the body seems for now.

I love this shot with the light shining through the windscreen decal.

BBS installed for photo-shoots.

A trimmed set of body posts wouldn't go astray, but all in time.

I think you'll agree it's pretty cool!

The wing will be lowered a little in the future too but for now enjoy the G-force.

RE-TA-06 Tsunami Spec - Phase 1

Here is the first full chassis images of the Tamiya TA-06 Pro CS 1.8 OD RE-Xtreme Tsunami Spec Drift chassis.

What is Tsunami Spec?

Tsunami is a powerful force that can destroy any competition. Combining the best components from Japan to create something much better than stock.

The chassis features components from ABC Hobby, RC Square, Eagle Racing, Overdose and Keyence to provide a complete package.

Looks like a stock TA-06... think again. CS 1.8 overdrive belt configuration with 8 degree castor and large steering ackerman for ultimate control and cool drift style.

Phase 1 development and test phase is nearing completion.

RE-TA-06 Solutions

The battery compartment on the TA-06 is a painful operation. I already abandoned the overkill 4 screw system, but it's still tedious.

These parts from RC Square are an elegant solution.

What's that extra screw hole for? Secret business.

Not really... spot anything different? My own design component is installed. Test is coming.

Tsunami & Samurai Liveries by .RSG.

The final "Tsunami" spec livery has been conceived. I'll be integrating this on to future projects. 2 tone blue chrome and silver chrome sticker set for the SSG chassis.

2 tone red chrome and silver chrome sticker set for the carbon chassis.

RE-DRB @ Max one

Cool! I'm loving the Takumi 7. Especially now it has Weds Sport SA-55M!

When I use this body, it gets attention. Now it's even better! Almost evil. I plan to add some yellow gold nail varnish to the inner spokes that I already painted silver.

The splitter looks awesome way out in front and I'm getting used to the length of it. I'm not smashing it on anything to often these days.

I always seem to run into my tandem battle junkie S14 on the same day. Max One is now running in the opposite direction so the drifts are higher speed and longer.

It took a while to get used to but once you get the line, you use a lot more power this way. Battery life was noticeably shorter.

My old NiMh are reaching the end of their lifespan. So I'm really thinking of the Li-Po option sooner than later. I was done a long time before others. New Luxon KG is good and looks better in the chassis.

I have got to put the diffuser back under there to complete the machine.

But there's always little things to do.

Maybe one day it will all be finished. Haha.

RE-TA-06 Shakedown

This morning was quite productive. I was able to install the electronics in the TA-06 and change all my connectors over to "Deans" type. By the time I'd finished, it was a little later than I had planned, but I still managed to get to Max One for the first test.

I threw on my trusty old Hpi FD3s and reamed two new holes in the rear and made the front holes bigger for the super fat terrible body posts on the TA-06. Tamiya should really be ashamed of these.

Anyway. The wheel base is a bit off at the rear, but it's basically sound. +9 and +12 Jupiter wheels for this 200mm body size well, and I was away.

For carpet, I made the front a lot softer with some super soft springs and the rear I used the stock springs which gave a little imbalance.

The car has about 4 degree front camber and 3 degree rear, which needs more at both ends but the turn buckles are nearly maxed out already.

This chassis loves oversteer!

I found myself sliding into corners from a lot further back that my other chassis. Reverse entries also common. What's the reason? Rear engine I imagine. There's a lot of weight back there but without a lot of time to perfect settings, I just wanted to make sure noting fell apart.

Well the pinion gear fell off (Thanks for finding it guys!) and was tightened again.

I noticed a little belt slip on the front so I guess I'll have to devise a tensioner. But actually it's not as bad as I thought.

The CS ratio is good and the car holds it's line very nicely. CS 1.73 but I call it 1.8

I hadn't set up the ESC or anything else yet, so there's a little way to go. But it's now onto concrete as this will be the main usage for this beast.

When I got home, I adjusted the rear wheelbase by a few mm. If you don't know how to do this, read your instructions. These HPI 200mm bodies need +12 for good effect. +9 at the front is good.

So I grabbed two +12 Mars wheels to complete a set.

I love the dish on these. I may make some dish stickers for these.

The result is a bit better filling the guards nicely.

I also did a few mods in another post.
